Christopher St. Cavish

Christopher St. Cavish is an American former chef who has lived in Shanghai since 2005. He reports China’s food culture with a cook’s eye and a journalist’s curiosity. 


Christopher is the creator and host of the popular video project saintcavish. He’s written for Lucky Peach, Saveur, Eater, and Food & Wine (China), which named him 2024’s Best Food Writer. Christopher is also known for The Shanghai Soup Dumpling Index, a project of scientific proportions to determine the best XLB in the city. And he’s spent over a decade working in kitchens.
